If i do say it myself. Edit the startup file, around line 784, replace the line

version3=`echo $version | grep "3" | sed -e 's/.*3.*/3/'`

with

version3=`echo $version |grep -v "5.3" | grep "3" | sed -e 's/.*3.*/3/'`

This makes the code that determines (incorrectly) if the current version is 3.0 fail (as one would expect) and hence prevent LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19 being set.
